Facebook is launching Messenger Day, Snapchat alternative
Facebook announced yesterday that they will be launching a new feature on their Messenger chat app. The features is a clone of Snapchat stories, and is meant to let people share their video diaries with just selected groups. Messenger Day also comes with a 24-hour auto-delete.
"Facebook needs to maintain itself as a funky, cool place to hang out with your friends because in the digital ecosystem world, user engagement is everything." -- Richard Windsor, Edison Investment Research.
While the announcement came just yesterday, I believe I have seen Day already a long time ago, and I didn't really get what it's all about. Now at least I have a clue, it's Facebook's way or trying not to lose their younger audience which they are afraid of losing to Snapchat and alike.
The Head of product for Messenger, Stan Chudnovsky, said "Visual messaging is a trend and people are sending hundreds of millions of photos every day, so why not give them ability to send even more."
